The SAFEST & Funnest airboat tour in Louisiana 🤩 and I say that having genuinely questioned my own safety at least twice! If you want an AUTHENTIC Louisiana Bayou experience, look no further than Raging Cajun Airboat Tours.
I was in New Orleans for the first time in July, historic walks and street photography had been scratched off the list, but my Nat Geo wildlife dreams still needed feeding 🐊. I found this family-owned, local operation running on private property with great ratings and they did NOT disappoint!
First thing… airboats are WAY closer to the water than you’d imagine. Like, alarmingly level. The thrill hits immediately! Our Captain, Scott Walker, was incredible, knowledgeable, personable, sharing history as we went deeper into the swamp and kept us laughing along the way. And then… the gators started appearing. On the banks. Swimming. Sunbathing. SURROUNDING us. It was wild and humbling. I kept thinking about the indigenous people navigating this environment for survival because these animals are EVERYWHERE 😱. They’re not so immediately interested in people and what they’re doing as modern folklore and movies might make you think. Surprisingly unphased
Now here’s where it gets REAL. One massive gator, practically Captain Scott’s pet, came right up to the boat, rested its head on the side like it owned the place, and Scott started PETTING IT! I was shocked. He then offered US a turn 😳( he may had simply been joking and I took it literally in fairness). I was equal parts terrified and tempted… but I’ve already lost function in one body part and my wisdom spoke clearly: “It’d take your hand before you could even react. The Juice is NOT worth the squeeze” 😅
But wow. Just wow. These people are the real deal. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Shoutout to Captain Scott Walker, coolest human in the swamp! 🐊🤩 Thanks Ragin Cajun Airboat Tours!
This is definitely who you want to book your excursion with!
